Bottle from the Coop in Davis, CA. Pours clear copper with a four-finger off-white head. Interesting aromas of caramel and something lightly spicey or grassy. About medium in body with mild, near creamy, carbonation. Flavor is almost like tea, but then caramel and fruit. Finish is sweet, but lightly so. The somewhat bitter tea aspect balances. Overall, though, it’s malty. Quite good.

Bottle. Poured red brown with medium white head. Sweet malty aroma and a whiff of cabbage. Medium malty flavour with an unfortunate tang of sulphur. Lekker malt finish. Not overly sweet, which was my fear.

Bottle from Bellingers Jet Garage, Grove Near Wantage, Oxon consumed 26-07-09 Pours amber with white head. Aroma is a bit barleysih but there is some sweetness and malt. Taste is once again sweetish, caramel, malt, nice and chewy, easy drinking smooth beer, tasty stuff. A7 A3 F7 P3 Ov14 3.5

Bottle, 5.2%. Caramelly aroma. Clear dark amber colour. Small tan head. The flavour is quite caramelly, almost syrupy in the malt syrupy way. OK bitterness, but not quite enough to balance off the sweetness. Quite fruity finish.

bottle, Danke MoritzF! Clear amber-brown colour, large beige head. Malty nose. Malty, flavours of roasetd malts, caramel, toffee and berries. Hints of Bayerisch Blockmalz candies. I thought it was more like a Dunkel than a Märzen, but I liked it anyway.

Aroma: This brew has a sweet caramel, toffee, and biscuity malt nose
Appearance: It pours a mostly clear mahogany color with a small off-white head and good lace
Flavor: The taste also leans toward the sweet side with a light bitterness for balance
Palate: The body is light-medium, it is fairly smooth, easily drinkable and pleasant
Overall Impression: This one needed a re-rate for sure, as the last description didn’t say too much. Anyway, the rating may have been low on info, but it was just about right on score in my re-rated opinion, so I’m leaving it as a 3.
