Cask at Penderel’s Oak, JDW, London. Pours clear gold with a creamy, white head. Some sweet dough and ripe citrus in the nose. Light to medium sweet flavor with some crisp bread, a bit of citrus fruits, light spice and pepper, faint grassy bitterness. Light to medium in body with fine carbonation. Faintly sweet, fruity finish, with ripe citrus and doughy bread, and faint bitterness of grass. Passable stuff, but nothing more.

[Cask at the Hobgoblin, High Wycombe, 17/11/2011] 4/3/5/2/9 Light amber, thin white head. Rather thin mouthfeel too. Sulphur and farmyard flavours are messy and unpleasant. No trace of the rum. There’s maybe a hint of floral hops behind this, but they totally fail to redeem a pretty poor beer. [Re-rate at the Dolphin, Chippenham, 18/11/2014] 8/3/8/4/15 Bloody hell. Served at a Waddy’s pub this is a completely different experience. It’s deep amber with a thin white head. Fruity and vinous from the off; rich toffee malts, sherry, dates and rum coming through. A tough of farmyard yeast behind reminds you it’s Waddy’s as you’re savouring the rich mouthfeel. Tastes stronger than the ABV. Very impressed, glad I retried it. Shame about the lack of consistency. Rating is the average of the two tastes.

Cask at the Waggon & Horses, Twyford. Cooper coloured with a loose cream head that laces the glass; spicy malt aroma - I didn’t pick up on the rum, but having read the descrsiption it was propabably there too; very dry in the mouth with spicy hops and a toffee sweetness; then a really good, long, soft, bitter finish. A good pint.

Cask @ Three Craws. Dark golden colour, off-white head. Nose is sweet malty, bit sourness, vegetables, bit of rum. Don’t like it at all. Flavour is malty, sour fruity, luckily not much rum here. Slight sweet and fruity finish.

Cask at The Trigger Pond, Bucknell, Nr Bicester, Oxon, 18-12-09 Pours amber with a white head, good clarity. Some dark sugar flavour comes through, its got a deep sweet fruitiness, little bit of bitterness, but touch too sweet maybe, its fine but seems a bit of a lazy effort. A5 A4 F6 P3 Ov11 2.9

Cask, Doctor Duncans, Liverpool. Dark copper colour with a thin off white head. Slight rum aroma with caramel malt and brown sugar notes. Similar gig in the flavour, with the rum lurking pretty unobtrusively in the background. In pretty good nick, and as a rum lover I quite enjoyed this.
