Martin House in Ft. Worth is an interesting brewery, generates a wide spectrum of beers in many styles and some are world class. Back in the RB days there were a couple of people in the DFW area that generated a lot of reviews on Martin House beers along with myself. They did not come over. So now when I find a new MH beer, I am prepared to be the only one to rate it. Only two other Brewver raters in Texas from what I can determine, maybe three, this is a sad state of affairs. I move along now. 12 oz can found at the only real local beer shop and it was priced quite reasonably. Sometimes you win. A globe glass is waiting for the pour and so I do. I view a really dark brown liquid sporting a thin head of tan foam that quickly departs to just a ring around the glass. I take a sniff and I think it is good and also not so good. Dark chocolate, vanilla, grain and a perplexing metal entry. Rest easy, the taste is significantly better than the nose. Scorched toast, malt, chocolate, marshmallows, a hint of bananas and no bacon to be found anywhere. Considerably sweet but not horribly so. Decent enough, I have had many from the brewery that are better.
