The old, original cider that was brewed all over northern Europe, was called bjor in Norse and beor in Old English. The drink was made from fermented fruit juice, with berries and herbs, and was added honey to raise the alcohol level. Beor was regarded the most noble and valuable drink, and in the Edda poem "Allvismål" Tor is told by the dwarf Allvis that beer was for men, while beor was for the Gods. One barrel of beor was worth 5 barrels of beer. In ancient documents beor has been translated wrong to beer because the word is similar. However, beor was a type of sweet strong wine that did not contain malt at all. When the Germans in the 1500s added hops to the beer, they re-used the word beor, that became Bier/beer. We have made a modern beor from strong cider and added honey and meadowsweet. Aromatic, sweet and strong, as the drink was explained in the ancient documents.

No head, clear golden color. Aroma is slightly dry boozy, apple cores, minerals, booze, sap, apple juice, honey, herbs, hay, bark. Taste is slightly sweet boozy, sap, hops, apple juice, honey, booze, minerals, grass, herbs, flowers, bark. Medium bitterness, slightly sweet boozy mouthfeel. Not really my cup of coffee, too boozy.
