Devil Anse Hatfield led his family in the notorious and bloody feud with the McCoys during the late 1800s along the Kentucky-West Virginia border. Nicknamed Devil Anse, it was said that he was so strong and fierce he could take on the devil himself. No feuding is necessary when you enjoy the balanced bitterness of hops and tropical fruit characteristics in this satisfying IPA.

Can shared with jcos, 8/3/19. My first WV tick... Thanks bud! Clear orange, white head. Malty, some buttery notes. Caramel and pine. Bit of citrus zest. Okay. Probably better than expected. 6/3/6/3/13

Can from TWSP. Hazy gold with floaters, small off-white head. Stale hop aroma, citrus. Flavor is grapefruit and orange peel, light pine, light resin. Ordinary at best, not great.

Can from weihenweizen: pours clear gold with a frothy head that leaves lacing. Aroma is hefty citrus and some pine. Taste is moderately bitter, somewhat sweet. Mouthfeel is bot too heavy. Hefty citrus finish. Perhaps a small boozy note. Not bad old school IPA.

Huge thanks to Erzengel for sharing! Looks good. Shy hoppy aroma. Starts fine hoppy, modest dry and bitter. Some notes of lemon, grapefruit. Modest dry. Finish bitter malty. Interesting.

Shared can. Hazy pale gold, white head. Caramel malt, tropical fruit, and citrus, with faint pine notes. Trending toward malt rather than hops. Subdued flavors. Okay.

12oz can purchased at a gas station cooler in Kingwood, WV, undated, drunk 11/23/18.
Pour is initially mostly clear, maybe slightly hazy, with a bright/sunny orange-maize and lighter blonde hues. But the last fifth of the can or so has plentiful sediment that I decide to pour in, making it quite hazy. White head atop shows modest retention.
Not exactly juicy but with strong tendencies towards it. Pineapple and tangerine show no edge or twang while there isn't a fresh, spicy Galaxy presence, but more light lime, hints of white wine and light mineral instead, which is perfectly fine too. No resin and even the pine has no edge to it. Malts seem mostly cracker-biscuit-like, letting the hops do most of the talking, but there is a little bit of honey-like character. Fruity yeast but nothing excessive and no alcohol or flaw.
In the mouth it's decidedly malty yet nicely dry with tight, low carbonation and a soft texture full of biscuity malts and light honey. Just enough sweetness is picked up as the beer loads up on orange, lemon and tangerine with hints of mango, nectarine and papaya a bit less prevalent. Lightly juicy at most, but it's a clean ale yeast so there's no big fruit/bubble gum. What it is is completely lacking of resin or pine and the citrus character never gets monotonous. Galaxy isn't huge, but definitely influences the flavor leaving light mineral and white wine-like notes along the way. Great dryness and a malty texture really stand out. This is absolutely excellent stuff with no flaw or alcohol.

Many thanks to weihenweizen for bringing this can to Europe. Fresh floral nose. The beer starts fruity and refreshing, mild with fruity hops. Slightly sweetish in body, refreshing with cellar dusty hints. Interesting.

Can shared with Erzengel. A clear golden beer with a white head. Aroma of citrusy hops, zest, pale malt. Taste of citrus hops, grainy malt, zest, medium bitter finish.
