This swarthy Dubbel is integrated with a distinctly porter-esque roasted quality & our Brettanomyces lambicus yeast strain for an unexpectedly cherry-tart finish.

Bottle from my parents.
Poured into a tulip, the appearance was a dark amber close to brown color with a thin white head that fell off at a good pace. Not much lace.
The aroma had some roast, light earthy/bitter chocolate - more like cocoa beans, pomme-like fruits, leather, sweet driftwood, quaint vanilla, and a rounded sour Brett-like portions.
The flavor wasn’t as sour as I expected from an American brewer doing this style. Rustic/semi-barnyard tastes wrap some herbal qualities to invade the sour and smooth out into the aftertaste. Finish was earthy, cocoa bean, vanilla and the sour Brett.
The palate was medium bodied with a decent sipping quality about it. Carbonation felt good and the ABV felt fine.
Overall, actually, I’m more than impressed because I didn’t think an American brewer could actually get so close in doing a superb take on a Flemish styled sour. Haha, well, shit, mostly at a loss for the rest of my words. Pretty sure my numbers will reflect appropriately.

500mL capped bottle poured into a snifter/tulip glass. Thick dark ruby, no clarity, not much head. Bottle says 90% attenuation and Brett L. Right away I know there is way more than just Brett L. This is their take on a Flemish Red/Oud Bruin. I would guess barrel aged but maybe just other wild yeasts added. Aroma has a bit roast, a bit chocolate, an earthy musk (a little apple skin, sour cherry). Flavor has a more pronounced sourness, not strong but an earthy and musky sourness with light cocoa, earth, and dark fruit. An evaporating and tingling mouthfeel. A delightful take on the style.

Bottleshare at Sampler: pours brown with a beige head. Aroma is funky and malty. Interesting flavor. Kind of sour. Pretty light. Nice aftertaste. Carbonation adds a lot.

Looks like a murky prune juice. lots of candied sugar, molasses and a little tartness in the aroma. hmmm, well, I can understand the Dubbel + Porter mix but honestly, it’s more wild ale w/ french yeast than a belgian duel or a porter. I do maybe get a tiny bit of coffee, I do get some sweetness but at the end, it’s more close to an experimental home brew.

Tap @ Brixton. Slight dull tart aroma. Nice lacing on this one. Orange brown and clear. Lighter flavor, hides his alky well. Fun loving, just a hint of hops. Very nice finish. Fruity and mildly tart. Very good overall beer tasting experience. It ROCKS. Really good old ale, yum.

Bottle - Plum, chocolate and sweet barrel notes. Dirty brown with no head. Raisin, plum, light cocoa and some bready notes on the finish. This is pretty nice and quite complex.
