Sampled on draft at the brewpub this beer poured a black color with a large foamy tan head that lingered forever and left excellent lacing. The aroma was bitter, piney and a touch roasty. The flavor was dry, bitter and roasty with piney and floral hops. Medium length finish. Medium body. Not good.

Tap source. Big & black. Nice lacing. Very little aroma. Good co2 from the start. Much more co2 than most IPA based beers. I found the taste of this to come across more like a very good porter with just a tad of IPA hops. Not sure if its spoonwood or I’m just getting used to IPAs over the last year or 2. If this is really a black IPA, its pretty civilized compared to my memory of what most black IPA impressions should be. Yes, fairly civilized dark beer JMHO. One of the better black IPA I’ve had and I’m a lager lover, go figger.

On tap at the brewery. Pours black with small beige head that lasts. The aroma is cold brew coffee and cocoa. Medium body, roast, dark chocolate, light dry finish, very good.
