The sun is out, the pool is open, and our Watermelon Gose is in cans and on the way to a store near you just in time for summer.
Inspired by salted watermelon, a summer treat, Terrapin Beer Co. set out to brew a Gose perfect for summer sipping. The beer has a watermelon aroma, a distinct lactic tartness and subtle watermelon flavor. Pour this beer into a stange glass, or drink it straight out of the can. Pairs well with light summer dishes like Thai shrimp and watermelon salad.

Tasty watermelon gose, both sufficiently sour and fruity, good lacto tartness melding with a firm but moderate melon backbone. Salty and semisweet on the finish, with a nice yeasty dry fade. Not a game-changer but a solid summer brew.

Huge thanks to Erzengel for sharing! Pours slightly hazy golden colour with a small white head. Aroma of sour fruits, some watermelon and salt. Taste of watermelon juice, some cucumber, salt, some tart fruits, interesting!

Many thanks to ThirstyBird for this can! Sourish nose with hints of cucumbers. The beer starts fresh with more melon-peel / cucumber falvour than watermelon itself. The body is slightly sourish, very refreshing. But as I don’t like cucumbers in my beer, this one is strange. Fruity melon-peel aftertaste with hints of sourish-salty beer. The body is great and round, refreshing and intense in one.
Interesting combination, but the melon-peel is not my flavour - but well made though.

Can: Nearly clear gold with a small, off-white head. Watermelon-rind, salt aroma. Taste is nicely salty, watermelon....again, close to the rind...wheat malt. Very refreshing.... a good one.

(Thanks, James "jbruner") Can. A- Watermelon rind, subtle salt water. A- Gold color, clear liquid, white head. T- Salty, medium tartness, mildly sour, watermelon juice. P- Light body, average texture, medium carbonation, refreshing finish. O- I haven’t been terribly fond of the watermelon infused beers I’ve had to date. That said, this was left me thinking there may be hope out there. Not artificial tasting but not that nasty bitter rind flavor completely either. A nice balance of watermelon skin, salt, and tartness. And I love my watermelon with salt on it so this worked. Decent stuff.

Can. Salty watermelon, biscuit malt, and light straw aroma. Yellow with small short-lasting head. Mildly sweet watermelon, biscuit malt, mild salt, and mildly bitter straw flavor. Body on the light side. Delicious.

Can from Market Street Wine Shop, Uptown. Overpaid for this - it rang up as a bomber of some other kind at $8,99 and I didn’t catch it until now. I suppose I could rate the place based on a return trip to see how they handle the discrepency. This better be effin’ good. Pours clear golden, no head. Aroma of watermelon and little else. Taste is salty, unsweetened watermelon jolly rancher. Tingly on the tongue. Bland. Meh. I better go back and collect my $$.

Can thanks to Homer, pours fairly hazy golden, small white head, decent lacing. Aroma is a bit of cucumber, watermelon, sea air, coriander. Flavor follows, hints of cuke are a distraction for me. Fairly salty, high on coriander, very light tart. Light body. Drinkable

Can: Watermelon nose, rind is dominant but flesh also present, gym socks. Clear yellow, thick head with little retention. Quite tart, lemon and pickle juice with watermelon accents. Malty kiss at the end. Full body, easy carbonation. Good intensity. Tolerable use of watermelon, which seldom works.
