At Short’s Brewing Monster Tap Takeover at Churchkey. Poured a dark, almost black color, very small tan head. Aroma was chocolate malts, roasted notes. Flavor had bitter chocolate notes, wheat. Pretty enjoyable.

On tap. Poured black with a light brown head that lasted. Aroma had lots of roasted/ toasted notes with mainly chocolate sticking out. Flavor very similar with roasted and toasted malts, along with a bitter chocolate.

Thanks to Rogueone for sharing a growler. This beer pours a dark brown color with a medium and foamy tan head that diminishes slowly. Stringy lacing on the glass. Chocolate and roasted malt in the nose along with some wheat. Medium, smooth body with flavors of chocolate, grainy malt and toasted wheat. The finish is chocolatey and smooth with a roasted malt aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

On tap at Shorts. Dark brown, approaching black body with a tan head. Coffee and chocolate aroma with a hint of grain and notes of caramel and roasted/burnt malts. The flavor is moderately bitter and lightly sweet. Moderately acidic. Finish is dry, bitter and somewhat metallic. Medium to full body, watery turning to sticky texture. Moderate carbonation. Tastes of espresso with a hint of chocolate. Enjoyable.

On tap at Crunchy’s, East Lansing. Deep opaque brown-black body, thin-medium brown head. Aroma of charred roasted malts with a hint of spice. Roasted, charred malt body with interesting bready, sweet, fruity wheat malts and wet hay. Long, bitter, lingering finish. After about half a pint the complexity wanes and the charred malts dominate the palate. Just a tad thin. One of the better stouts I’ve sampled in quite some time.
