12 ounce can, 12/16/24. Black, large brown head, average retention. Aroma of roast, chocolate. Taste is roast, chocolate. Well balanced. Simple but good.

Pours near black with a dense, inch deep tan head that lingers. It smells mainly of chocolate malt. The flavor is on the sweet side and is dominated by chocolate malt. It’s somewhat roasty and is balanced enough to not be overly sweet. I’d call this one a lighter porter and I prefer robust porters, but it’s alright.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass; no bottle dating, but was just released. Pours nearly pitch black color with a 1 finger dense tan head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass. Aromas of big milk chocolate, roasted malt, cocoa, coffee, toast, wheat, floral, herbal, light pine, and roasted/floral earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roasted malt and moderate hop notes; with good strength. Taste of milk chocolate, cocoa, roasted malt, toast, wheat, light coffee, herbal, floral, slight pine, and roasted earthiness. Light herbal/roasted bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of milk chocolate, cocoa, roasted malt, toast, wheat, light coffee, herbal, and roasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice balance and complexity of dark/roasted malt flavors with a fair amount of hop presence; with good robustness and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a moderately creamy, smooth, and slightly chalky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very nice porter. All around good balance and robustness of dark/roasted malt flavors with a fair amount of hop presence; and very smooth to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

Opaque dark brown beer, little tan head. Light dry palate. Sourish start rapidly followed by powdery dark chocolate and a pinch of coffee. Dry finish. Strange but beguiling!

Draft. Chocolate malt and light banana aroma. Dark brown with moderate head. Sweet dark chocolate and wheat malt aroma. Light bitter/ashy finish. Very nice - great use of wheat malt - wish there were more beers like this.

Bottle. Pours seep black with a medium beige head that dissipates with decent lacing. Aroma is chocolate, tobacco, wheat, coffee. Flavor is much the same, medium sweet with a bit of spiciness and a very light coffee bitter finish. Medium-full body and creamy. Quite nice actually.

Bottle. Pours black with tan head. Nose/taste of milk chocolate, vanilla, clove, banana and burnt chocolate malt and grain. Light body - easy drinking.

12oz bottle pours a lightly viscous, opaque black with a spitty, clumpy, off white head. Nose of toasted malts, chocolate, multi grain bread, dried hay, nuts, a little coffee. Flavor is much lighter than the color or nose would let on; watered down malt, light brown sugar, watered down coffee, crackers, a little wheat. Medium bodied, dry finish. Smells pretty good, flavor is a bit too watery.
