Sampled from the tap at the brewpub. Pours a clear deep amber with a light brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has lots of grains and bread with a hint of toffee underlying. Flavor has lots of grains and bread with a bit of toffee backing.

Bottle: Cloudy brown with a small, off-white head. Rich caramel, plum, dark bread aroma. Sweet, rich, caramel malt, plum taste. Full bodied, some bitter hay notes... A slight alcohol warmth... Very, very, good.

Bottle. Milky caramel malt, raisin, fresh hay, and alcohol aroma. Dark brown with minimal head. Moderately sweet creamy caramel malt, plum, and moderately bitter herbal hay and alcohol flavor. Very nice body and balance. Delicious.

Best part is the aroma, which was very malty, caramel, toffee, not scotch. Nice head, but it vanished right away; no lace. Flavor is some dark ripe fruits and a weird bitterness that clash. Body is likewise not so good- alcohol burn and an unpleasant bitter buzz. One and done.
