32oz growler pours with a deep dark body that supports a weak mocha colored head. The aroma offers up dark roasted malts, burnt malts, black strap molasses and chocolate followed by black licorice and some booze at the end of the draw. The taste is similar with pleasing dark roasted malts to burnt malts and chocolate, fudge brownie and molasses. Very nice. This is roasty and rich and deep with goodness as the palate is as smooth as a baby’s bottom. Solid roasty sipper that really really sneaks up on you.

On tap at the brewery. Pours with a pitch black hued body and a small tan head (moderate to low retention and lace). Aromas are of roast, iodine, licorice, fudge, dark fruits, baked bread and bakers chocolate. Flavors are quite roasty, yet overall mellow/smooth for the alcohol. Licorice, dark fruits, roast, smooth chocolate and alcohol. Surprisingly dry for what it is. Moderately warming, full bodied with medium to light bubbles. Quite tasty.
