Sample at Parkville fest as Russian Imperial Stout, 9% and 87 IBU. Opaque brown color, tan head. Aroma and taste of rich burnt espresso. Tasty..

Nitro at the brewpub served in a snifter. Why did they put this on nitro, a major waste. I mean it did pour beautifully, with that nitro head and a thick black body. Sure the mouthfeel was nice, a thick beer with some nitro to offset it does feel good on the cheeks. But it really covered up flavor and aroma. I could pick out prune, tobacco and thick dark bittered chocolate aspects of a good Impy Stout. But it was all concealed behind the nitro, so it is definitely worth a try but I wish I could try it without the nitro.
