One of our heritage beers, Yuengling® Lord Chesterfield Ale has as much rich heritage as it does flavor and appeal. Crafted in a unique two-stage European brewing style for enhanced bitterness, it utilizes both conventional kettle hopping and dry hopping after fermentation resulting in a dry sharp finish. Pour was nasty and had chunks of dirty sediment. Aroma is barnyard grassy. Taste is grass and corn chips. Dry finish. Rated 12/8/2000

Bottle. Not too shabby. Pours a light gold, slightly hazy, with a subtle white head. Nose of light malts and some spices. Flavor has mild sweetness, some zesty bite, some bitterness in the tail. There is some pine element in there. Crisp finish, some lingering maltiness. Medium body, medium carbonation. Drinkable.

Refrigerated bottle poured into a glass. Pours golden with white head. Highly carbonated with small head and nice lacing. Aroma is floral hops and a hint of skunk. Taste is kind of inbetween an ale and a pale lager; taste is dominated by grainy corn malt, has a hint of skunk and some floral hops mostly in the finish.

Overall Impression: A pretty average ale offered from Yuengling, not a bad beer, but certainly not to enticing...

Bottle at the Seventh Annual Richmond Beer Dig on 03/08/2009. Probably 2 years old. Clear gold body with a large white head. Grainy corn aroma. Light corn and grain flavor with some honey hints. Light body with high carbonation though somewhat watery.

(11/10/08) Bottle at friends’ house in Philadelphia (thanks Jeff). Clear goldrn color with a medium white head. Aroma some malt, graininess, corn and notes of hops. Sweetish flavor with some malt, cereal notes and a slightly bitter and hoppy finish with astringent notes. Light-bodied. Drinkable but not good. Very Pale-Lager-like.

Egads! That’s skunky! 12 ounce bottle from In Vino Veritas in Keswick, VA. Straw yellow color with a one-finger head, low retention and thick lacing. Once the skunk lifts there is a corny, grassy aroma. Taste is grassy hops with some grainy notes and a sweet finish. Medium bodied.

Bottle, from the Yuengling brewery in Tampa, FL. Weird that I grew up 30 mins from the PA brewery and I’m just now trying this. Seems hard to find for me, I don’t know why it’s not special at all. A decent ale that suprised me with it’s hop flavor. It has a very thin body and seemed like a beer I could drink alot of.

Green 12 oz bottle with a twist off cap, $1.75 at the 3 Son’s place in Wexford. For some reason I expected something more lagerlike. Looks like any other american lager. Certainly has an ale bite on the first taste. Is a little boiled cabbage and broccoli like in aroma. Has more personality than I like in golden ale. It’s almost an annoying refined hop bitterness. This bitterness even hides the alky content. Industrial linger that hangs for a while. Not as good as North Country Northern Lite, Rivertowne Golden Mountie or Pete’s Rally cap. Better than Kochs Golden Anniversary Beer. On par with Blue Point Summer Ale and Balantine.

Bottle. The first thing that hit me while pouring was a Heinekin like skunky aroma that you can pick up across the room... that with a little bit of a grass and some grain for good measure. Color is gold and has a mid-sized head that has died down almost completely. Flavor is a step above macro swill, but rather uninteresting.
