This isn’t your watered-down light beer from college. Nor is it a heavy craft beer. Honey Brown pours right smack dab in the middle. A delicious golden amber color, it’s a beer you can drink throughout the night while staying true to yourself and your evolving palate. Enjoy it with friends. Enjoy it with strangers. It doesn’t matter to us—just enjoy it. (Formerly J.W. Dundee/Dundee Original Honey Brown Ale)

Sept 2006: from BA. Part of a Craft Beer of America pack, bought in the UK. This was by far the worst beer in the JW Dundee’s selection I have had. Poured into a Berliner Kindl straight glass, it looked sad, light brown and sickly. The smell was of off honey. It was a mish-mash of half flavours and nothingness, very disappointing, I just couldn’t find a good point. I do not know what the brewer is trying to do here, whatever it is, he has failed to impress me.

12oz bottle poured into a shaker. Pours a clear, very dark gold with minimal head. Aroma of wheat and malt. Taste is light sweet. Wheat and honey. Light bodied with a thin texture. Fizzy carbonation and not much of a finish. Overall, it’s ok, but not that good. Probably a good intro to craft, but not much else.

Pours dark amber with a large, quickly-fading head. The only noticeable aroma is honey... nothing else.Loads more honey as a flavour along with some caramel and finishes with a mild bitterness. A little cloying.Could use more carbonation.One-dimensional but not bad.

Bottle. It pours a clear, amber body and a small, dense, off-white to beige head. Caramel, a nice little touch of green apples and a generic fruityness in the aroma. The flavor goes in the same direction, with caramel, some green apples and fruityness, and the finish is gone almost before it shows up. Medium body. A bit heavy on the carbonation, else it’s a decent and drinkable beer, but rather boring. 110330

Sweet and bland and grainy and sweet and bland. Looks a little better than cheap crap beer, but the taste is watered-down lagery fruit and cloying, bittersweet honey. One bottle every decade is plenty. Miss the old bottle. (7/08)

355 ml bottle. Clear golden body with a disappearing white head. Aroma is mainly caramel malt with some honey. Quite sweet flavor with some caramel and a pleasant level of honey (i.e. not too much sticky honey in my lager please). Medium body. Drinkable with a harmonic level of honey flavor, but in fact not particular exiting either.

355ml bottle. Looks ok - amber with some head and gentle carbonation. Sweet, malty, honeyed nose. The taste is like a lager with honey added. The palate is so-so. No refreshment on the end but decent structure and creaminess. Couldn’t drink many more than 1.
