Genesee Bock Beer Special Edition, from Genesee!

Our take on the 16th century German legend has turned out to be a legend in its own right. For every spring since 1951, our brewery has carefully crafted and lagered Genesee Bock Beer. The result is an exceptionally hearty, full-flavored beer with a slight malty finish—and a perfect way to celebrate the snow melt.

Bottle gifted by the barman at the Brew House. Big thanks. Reddish brown with a tall head. Caramel and raisin nose. Creamy caramel flavor, vanilla, raisins. A bit too light in body, and slightly candy-ish, but still pretty decent. Enjoyable, light, and easy drinking but still with flavor. Best beer they make for sure.

Sampled from a 12 oz can this beer poured a dark caramel-brown color with a huge creamy/soapy orange tan head that lingered and left decent lacing. The aroma was sweet and tangy with light notes of caramel, honey and nut. The flavor was sweet and tangy caramel, honey, nut and a sour industrial presence underneath. Short tangy caramel finish. Medium body. Dull but drinkable.

Lured by fun can design and cheap price. I was surprised that it is probably the best Genesee Beer tasted so far. After saying it, still, it is watered down brown looking and slightly bitter and sweet beer. Nothing special, but at least one that has some taste to it, not too carbonated. Easy to drink and enjoy. Average.

Can. Caramel malt and light astringent alcohol aroma. Dark amber color with small head. Lightly sweet caramel malt flavor with a hint of alcohol astringency. Very light but is actually a reasonable dunkler bock.

12oz can. 6.99 a 12-pack. Filtered orange-amber. Thin, creamy of-white head. Subdued, malty, relatively true to style. A little thin, some factory water and maybe some adjuncts. Close to being a real go -to beer for the price, but still just a little too macro and devoid of the richness, or yeasty pungency you’d hope for in a Bock of any sort. Caramel laced finish. OK.

I bought this for $3.99 for a 6 pack, which is probably the cheapest beer I’ve purchased in a long time. With that in mind, this is actually not a bad beer, but if it was any more I would steer clear of this. Pours a very clear amber with a thick head that dissipates. Aroma is of cheap malt, but more robust than a standard lager. Taste s just really thin and metallic. It’s better than the standard lagers you find at this price point, and that’s why the review is better than what it would’ve been if a couple of bucks was added to the price.

can, thanks z13! pours dark mahogany with a thin off white head. Aroma is toasted malt, some carmel and fruity yeast notes. Nutty malt body, wtih great depth and light sweetness ends with a peppery sazz finish. Mildly tart with a alcohol hint edging in toward the end. Not bad at all.

S5L3F3T5o12 I got this stuff for $10 per 24-12oz cans at beaver valley beverage in monaca (monacatootha, pa). Pour is nice and it has a slightly darker edge on the pale lager color, perhaps some brown in there. Good appearance out of a can, decent head at first, then remains creamy. Taste is better than I expected. It has some bock attributes but comes across more like a dark lager with a jenny twist. Has some lacing on the glass. Smooth and rather well behaved. Like able. Has decent fruity carbonation on the palate. Finish is not bitter, nor lasting, gentle-man like. Overall a decent beer, even when warm; and isn’t that the test for a cheap American beer?.... warm…… heheheh? For 40 cents per can, better get a case of this stuff for lawn mower, or snow shoveling. Cheap and almost dark, good buy.
