Sample at Denver Rare Beer Tasting XVI (Last Call) on 10/09/2025. Dark brown pour with a medium beige head that dissipates quickly to an outer ring. Small patches of lace. Aroma of roast malt, coffee and dark chocolate. Medium body with flavors of charred malt, caramel, coffee and bittersweet chocolate. The finish is roasty with a malty aftertaste. Above average overall.

12 oz. can. Pours black, with a smaller, tan head. The aroma is cocoa, chicory, light charcoal, toasted coconut, and black pepper. Sweet and yeasty, with a mild, earthy bitterness. Medium to heavy body, syrupy, and pretty thick. Smooth, complex, and delicious.

Can - dark amber bordering on brown - moderate off-white lace - nose is caramelized maltiness and notes of chocolate and toffee - warming but not boozy - very traditional to style - rich maltiness followed by a mild acidity to cut the sweetness - chocolate, caramel, tobacco, coffee, vanilla - creamy texture throughout - slight sharpness on the tail end, but it is solid.

On tap at the brewery. Pours a clear deep brown with a light brown head that dissipates slowly to the edges and laces. Aroma has light earthy dark grains and a bit of chocolate and a bit of roast supporting. Flavor has has nice roast and chocolate with dark grains and a hint of bread.
