Taster at Republic. Had to double check on the pour as it's the darkest pale I've seen. Also, its listed as slightly smoky...ummm, no. Medium to dark brown with small creamy head. Ok, really this should probably be a smoked beer. Ashy, peaty, roasty. Comparable to a Schlenkerla. Bamburg style. And great, by the way.

Draft at the source. Hazy deep amber color. Burnt straw aroma. Taste is meaty, bready, char.

Sampled from the tap at the brewery. Pours a near amber with a near white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma combines smoke and juniper with notes of grass and grain backing. Flavor has earthy grains and smoke up front with a growing juniper presence and a hint of grass.

Enjoyed on tap at the Triple Rock Social Club in Minneapolis, MN while eating some food with friends. Overall, it’s not bad and a unique pale ale, darker than others I’ve had, smoke adds an interesting dynamic while mix with juniper, which makes this dry. Probably wouldn’t seek this one out again though.
