Crisp weiss beer with natural grapefruit flavor
A traditional shandy is beer mixed with a little something extra, like lemonade, soda or ginger ale. Leinenkugel's® Grapefruit Shandy is our take on this tradition. Each batch begins with our traditional weiss beer. We then combine it with natural white grapefruit flavor that adds a note of fresh-cut citrus, because here refreshment is our greatest natural resource.

12 oz twist off bottle at a friend’s party. The pour is a hazed orange golden with a smallish white head that fizzles out quick. The aroma is straight-forward grapefruit juice soda, softly sweet and tart. The taste is very much grapefruit soda, though a fresh, clean and reasonable natural version. The palate is light bodied, high carbonation level and sweetly tart quick finish. Refreshing.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, best before 5/30/2016. Pours very hazy golden orange color with a 1-2 finger dense white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining thew cap. Aromas of big grapefruit, tangerine, lemon zest, orange peel, wheat, cracker, light honey, herbal, and yeast earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance of grapefruit, pale malt, and light earthy hops/yeast ester notes; with great strength. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, lemon zest, orange peel, wheat, cracker, light honey, herbal, and yeast earthiness. Light herbal/citrus peel bitterness and slight fruit tartness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, lemon/orange zest, wheat, cracker, light honey, and herbal/yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice robustness and balance of grapefruit, pale malt, and light earthy hops/yeast ester flavors; with a great malt and light bitter/tartness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light-moderate dryness from grapefruit bitter/tartness as well. Medium carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth, fairly crisp, creamy/bready, and slightly acidic balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with zero warming present after the finish as expected of 4.2%. Overall this is a very nice shandy style! All around good robustness and balance of grapefruit, pale malt, and light earthy hops/yeast ester flavors; and very smooth, crisp, and refreshing to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

12 oz bottle from a convenience store. Two months out of date. Aroma is awesomely grapefruity, I won’t lie. I’m not getting anything else, really. Pours cloudy orange-yellow with minimal white foam. Taste is sweet grapefruit juice and wheat beer, no surprises here; very faint bitterness in the finish. Mouthfeel is watery, body pretty thin. Tasty and refreshing. I’m really surprised by this. Much better than Illusive Traveler.

Ok, so I like most grapefruit radlers, so why not try this? Cloudy grapefruit juice look with decent grapefruit aroma all round. Taste is certainly grapefruit but not like the sweet kind. Its more like Unsweetened grapefruit juice that has a little hops in there. Probably its the grapefruit that makes me think of the hops, go figger. Not quite chewing on green grapefruit rinds but a little bit of ripe rinds in there. Not bad overall. Have had god experience with most of their shandies. They know how to balance things out over there.

Well at least this one is a shandy, and interesting to use grapefruit instead of lemonade. It has a nice true grapefruit juice element in the aroma and flavor. The base beer could be a lot better though, it feels like a bleh wheat beer. OK beer but a few changes could make this really something

Can from the mixed pack. Decided to have a go at this one right out of the can... Lots of grapefruit in the smell, fresh and lively. Tastes like a wheat beer with grapefruit, pretty basic. I like grapefruit, so its hard not to like this. Thirst quenching. Much better than the summer shandy.
