12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, best before 6/5/2016. Pours fairly crystal clear bright golden yellow color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of juicy grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, mango, lemon zest, orange peel, pine, cracker, bread, agave, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with balance and complexity of citrus/tropical hops, grapefruit/agave, and light-moderate pale malt notes; with solid strength. Taste of big juicy grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, mango, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, pine, cracker, bread, agave, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Good amount of pine/citrus rind bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, mango, lemon/orange rind, pine, agave, cracker, bread, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice balance, robustness, and complexity of citrus/tropical/piney hops, grapefruit/agave, and light-moderate pale malt flavors; with a nice malt/bitterness balance and zero astringent hop flavors after the finish. Good amount of dryness from bitterness as well. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, crisp, sticky/resinous, and lightly bready/grainy mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is very good fruited IPA style. All around good balance, robustness, and complexity of citrus/tropical/piney hops, grapefruit/agave, and light-moderate pale malt flavors; and very smooth, crisp, and easy to drink. Hops didn’t feel as vibrant as I hoped for, but the balance between the grapefruit and hop flavors was really good. A very enjoyable offering.

Bottle from Colonial Spirits Mostly clear deep yellow into the glass with a smallish white head that dissipates quickly to a ring on top. Earthy spicy citrus with bits of bready maltiness. Light herbal spiciness especially in the finish. Not too Shabby.

New rating: From a bottle this stuff now has a medium likker aroma and teh taste now approaches IPA mixed with a little turpentine, a lot more difficult than the first try on tap. Quite rude actually, nasty nellie. Compared to the stuff I had at mad mex, this is your typical rude IPA with hints of tequila in it. Whew. Old rating 1/16: 5/2/4/2/9 = 2.2 Boy, madmex is a great place to have beer and wings! This has a rather neutral smell of slight volatile candy solvent. Somewhat fumy taste bud olfactory experience. I think its the agave, not used to it. Becomes a little more mild as the senses dull, midsession. Finish is rather pleasant in the end. Yes, a taste of grapefruit in there but not at the level of an ipa. Just a simple well spiced fresh apa in nature, spiced with some mexicana.
