There’s an uprising in the craft beer world, a mutiny on gluten, and the movement’s invaded our brewhouse, demanding we finally brew an uncompromised gluten-reduced pale ale fit for the most adventurous hopheads. Our response? This is Glutiny! For this new year-round release, we armed the beer with a hefty dose of exotic Equinox hops, lending breezy guava, papaya and stone fruits to a wash of sweet, slightly herbal malt flavors. We then employed a special enzyme during the brewing process, which breaks down the gluten. Like any delicious pale ale, expect swift bitterness in the swallow and an assertively dry finish, just how we like it. Ready to join the uprising? Taste the Glutiny.

Bottle. So bitterly astringent this is. Yes, reminds me of many gluten free beers in nature, seriously. It must be a psych thing, I saw the label. glutney, and I thought it was gluten free but its not. But that astringnet almost bandaid thand keeps kicking my palate. But hey now yea, well now I see it’s listed as a pale ale but its really a gluten free beer, just as I expected. Come on, get this in the right style, RB!

bottle - Pours clear copper with a one finger head and smells of citrus hops and malt with maybe a touch of caramel. The flavor features hops bitterness that’s on the mild side for the style along with slightly toasted malt and some fruit. Light to medium bodied. It’s decent.

Bottle: Clear golden pour, bubbly, with about a ½” eggshell cap. Aroma of citrus hops, light malty sweetness, and some husky earthiness. Taste actually has a bitter component?! Floral and citrus hops, some dandelion. Lightly sweet and balanced. Not bad… surprisingly good in all honesty this is better than a lot of the APA’s out there. Not what I expected from a gluten free ale.

Orange peel nose subtle caramel underneath. Clear amber, firm medium head, good lace. Orange, grass. Medium body, easy carbonation. Flavor and body, two things you don’t find very often with GF beers. I’ve never quite understood why there aren’t more hop forward GF beers.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a dark bronze color with a huge foamy-soapy yellow-white head that lingered and left decent lacing. The aroma was grainy and doughy with an off note and moderate fruity hops. The flavor was sour malts, caramel, grain, a bit off and fruity hops. Long finish with almost a medicinal note. Medium body. Not good.

Bottle from Total Wine in Folsom, CA. Pours orange copper with a creamy near-white head. Aroma is a nice mix of non-citrus fruits - like peach and guava or something really nice. Med body. Flavor is nicely fruity, but the malt leaves a bit to be desired - not really roasty like the typical APA. Still, hops beat malt most of the time. Nice clean finish. This is good news for the gluten afflicted.

Bottle from Boise Co-op. Nice looking clear copper body, tightly beaded head, substantial lacing. Normal APA notes in taste and aroma. Considering this is gluten free, it’s pretty good.
