There’s an uprising in the craft beer world, a mutiny on gluten, and the movement’s invaded our brewhouse, demanding we finally brew an uncompromised gluten-reduced pale ale fit for the most adventurous hopheads. Our response? This is Glutiny! For this new year-round release, we armed the beer with a hefty dose of exotic Equinox hops, lending breezy guava, papaya and stone fruits to a wash of sweet, slightly herbal malt flavors. We then employed a special enzyme during the brewing process, which breaks down the gluten. Like any delicious pale ale, expect swift bitterness in the swallow and an assertively dry finish, just how we like it. Ready to join the uprising? Taste the Glutiny.

Bottle. Tropical fruit, malt, and earthy orange peel aroma. Golden yellow with small head. Sweet guava/pineapple, malt, and mildly bitter herbal grass flavor. Decent body. Pretty good.

Bottle: Clear, bubbly, dark gold with a thick white head. Strong semi-tropical aroma. Taste is sweet..papaya, mango.... Juicy and creamy. A bit of grassy bittering. Pretty tasty.

Sample at AK BW fest 2016. Clear golden color, fluffy off white head. Aroma of subtle earthy citrus. Taste is earthy lemon. Not bad.

12 ounce bottle into signature globe glass, best before 5/1/2016. Pours crystal clear deep orange/copper color with a 1-2 finger dense off white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Great spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation. Awesome appearance. Aromas of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, mango, melon, papaya, lemon zest, orange peel, light pepper/pine, light caramel, toasted bread, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of juicy citrus/tropical hops and moderate bready malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, mango, melon, papaya, lemon zest, orange peel, light pepper/pine, light caramel, toasted bread, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Medium pine/citrus rind/spicy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, mango, melon, papaya, lemon/orange rind, pepper, pine, toasted bread, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Damn nice complexity, robustness, and balance of juicy citrus/tropical/piney hops and moderate bready malt flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light-moderate dryness that increases through the glass. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderate sticky, and fairly creamy/bready balanced mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a really excellent pale ale! All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of juicy citrus/tropical/piney hops and moderate bready malt flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

12 ounce bottle. Clear amber, looks like cider, large foamy off-white head. Good retention. Aroma of toasted malt and piney hops. The taste is tropical fruit, toasted malts, a bit of pine. Medium bodied, well balanced, refreshing. Solid.

Bottle. Kroger. Pours golden with a small head. Aroma of grapefruit and piney hops. Taste is wet cardboard, honey, light citrus, glue. Something’s definitely missing in this one. Oh yea, the gluten. People have been drinking gluten for thousands of years, but suddenly (much like the Atkins/low-carb but consume anything else in sight diet) people have an issue with it.
