Gingerbread Stout Aged in Apple Brandy Barrels

In this limited edition variant, our Gingerbread Stout blends in perfect harmony with the cinnamon kissed oak staves of the apple brandy barrels in which it was matured. This barrel aged imperial milk stout crescendos with notes of honey, chocolate and fragrant cinnamon.

Light ginger and light apple. Pours black with great head and lacing. Bittersweet finish. Great balance for something I wouldn’t usually like in principal. Bottle shared at tasting.

750ml bottle from the release pours a oily rootbeer brown with some swirling, brown head. Nose has a lovely cinnamon bouquet, honey comb, cinnamon candies, brown sugar, molasses, spiced cookie, clove too, nutmeg, some heavy dried ginger. Flavor follows, the interplay between the spice and the chewy molasses/malt is very nice, crystallized ginger, vanilla, cinnamon stick, light chicory, some cream soda, honey. Finishes, sweet, spicy and a little sticky.

8-10 oz draft pour at Hardywood, plastic cup. Consumed on 12/19/2015. Black with tan head. Aromas of apples, chocolate, spices. Tastes of spiced apple, chocolate, gingerbread, some brandy. Full body with a dry finish. Very tasty! 8/4/9/4/18

750 ml bottle poured into a Bruery tulip. Black with two fingers of light tan head. Consumed on 12/25/2015. Aromas of distinct brandy, oak, apples, cinnamon spice, a little ginger and cocoa. Tastes of chocolate, brandy, ginger, cinnamon spice, caramelized apples. More ginger and brandy as it warms. Very good but Bourbon GBS is still my favorite of the barrel aged GBS’s. 8/4/8/4/17
