11/11/14: Nice bock, nothing fancy but also not pretending to be.

1/10/16: It's october and the male goat has escaped! After it! A decent bock, the different grains give some roastyness. Nice and bitter, not sweet.

One of those Jopen beers originally brewed in Belgium. Atypical for a Dutch ’herfstbok’ in that it is made with four grains. Thick and firm, moussy, stable head, off-white. Dark hazy bronze colour. Complex malty and grainy aroma of caramel, cherries, banana, orange, yeast, soapy hops. Full, even a bit thick malty taste with refreshing fruity accents, sourish rye hint, typically soft oats, spicy notes, toasted bitterishness in the finish along with herbal hops. Creative interpretation of an otherwise rather dull style.

(Draught at Jopenkerk, Haarlem, 27 Feb 2014) Dark brown colour with dense, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with notes of dark bread, raisins and prunes. Malty, roasted taste with notes of dark bread, caramel, chocolate, hints of raisins and a fairly dry finish with balanced bitterness. Medium body, quite dry. Tasty and well made bock. Quite nice.

Very dark brown, creamy tan head. Smoky and burnt toast at first, later a bit grassy, dried fruits and yeast, but still some burnt/ashy touches. Thin body. Overall slightly too much ash for my taste.
