Black with a tan head. Robustly roasted malt, near burnt but not quite. Chocolate, light brown sugar, caramel. Finish is bitter roasted malts. Doesn’t have the coffee flavor profile, but has a similar harsh bitter finish like a black cup of dark roast coffee. Good.

Dark brown coloured body with some lighter brown hues coming out at the bottom, all with a thinnish, single centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of malt, earth, toffee, bright herbal hops and even showing some lighter tropical fruits as well - interesting. Medium to Full-bodied; Super assertive and bitter roasted malt flavours at first with hits of cacao nibs, toffee, earth and some hops. Aftertaste shows a lot of the roasted malt notes, some earth, coffee, vanilla and the faintest bit of lactose, all with a solid and very fresh hop element - nice. Overall, I didn’t want to like it because of the mass produced nature, but this one is pretty good and hits well for the style - worth trying if you can find it! I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Wegman’s in Leesburg, Virginia on 24-December-2015 for US$5,49 sampled at home in Washington on 28-Aprll-2016.

On tap at Miramar. It pours a dark brown color with a khaki head. The aroma is roasted with some cocoa and background notes of dark fruit. Mostly fig. Great mouth feel. A little more fig and date fruitiness with low roasted malt and cocoa for the style. The roast does come through a little in the finish along with some earthy bitterness. Good.

Bottle from Boise Co-op. Smooth, rich porter, it already says "robust" in the title. Chocolate, coffee grounds, burnt toast aroma. More in the taste with a slightly elevated sweetness factor. Slick body, lingering bitterness. Let this one warm a bit, it gets better.
