Dark black with ruby red highlights, this Robust Porter is rich and complex. A blend of UK malts, chocolate rye and Belgian candi sugar provide a sweet chocolate, yet rich earthy quality. Malt forward with an aroma full of roasted malts, toffee and dark fruit, this National Homebrew Competition medal-winner is a great dessert beer or to pair with hearty foods. Happy brewing!

650 ml bottle. Pours a very dark brown with moderate yellowish tan head. Aromas of dry coffee, chalk, and dry roasted malts. Flavors of roasted malts, dry dark chocolate and nuts. Very dry. It’s a well made porter...

22oz bomber pours with a deep dark body that supports a tall tan head that leaves behind some cobweby lacing. The aroma offers up dark roasted malts, dusty malt balls, a dash of caramel malts and then sweet dark fruity esters. The taste delivers dark roasted malts, chocolate malt balls and then some wafer thin sweet dark fruity esters. To midway it picks up some modest burnt malt notes before heading into a finish that has a sweet malt and dark roasted maltiness coming forward. Solid.

22oz bottle. Deep brown-black body. Steady, creamy, thick beige head laces up the glass. A really solid Porter, one of the better examples I’ve had in some time. Deep chewy chocolate tones, light hop and warmth balance. Approaching Imperial Stout, this is a pretty full bodied beer. Really well done.

22 oz bottle poured. Bottle tagged with the recipe, like I’m assuming the whole series is. This is the first I’ve heard of the series. Love the idea. Pours a near black with a ton of tan foam head. Big toasty malt aroma. Nice chocolate malt flavor up front. Dark chocolate finish. I don’t think these guys make a bad beer.
