Imperial Stout
Our 30th Anniversary Ale is a testament to three-plus decades of hard-work. It honors all that has helped us get to this point – hard work, quality and authenticity.
It reminds us of where we’ve been, how we’ve grown over the years, the challenges we’ve faced and at the same time, looks forward to what comes next.
Also a nod to another Bell's favorite, Expedition Stout, flavors of dark chocolate and fruit meld to create a full-bodied, roasty stout.
A fair amount of Polaris hops lend a brightness and a nice character that will help carry the beer in its early stages making it incredibly drinkable and interesting. Malt characteristics will continue to develop over time, so that beer drinkers who choose to cellar it can enjoy the beer for years to come.

Bottle: Pours black with an oily, medium brown head...reverts rapidly to just a ring. Big, burnt chocolate malt, molasses aroma. Taste is creamy, dark bitter chocolate malt.....a bit of dark fruit. Rich, chewy....a mild, roasted bitter at the end. Excellent.

12oz bottle thanks to Darrel. Pours out black topped with a tan head. Nose is roast malts brown sugar molasses marshmallow vanilla. Taste is more of the roast malts chocolate coffee vanilla nice thick and rich.

12oz bottle. Deep opaque brown-black body. Rusty beige head settles away after a minute. Rich, luscious malt tones. A big, classical American Imperial Stout, really dialed in, quite excellent. Thick, sweet chocolate. Pretty perfect no frills monster Imperial Stout.

12oz bottle from Connecticut Ave pours an opaque black with some lacing, thin, tan head. Nose has black pepper, molasses, a little meaty, chocolate ice cream, malt, raisin, a little yeast. Flavor is sweet, licorice, molasses, malt, chocolate creams. Full bodied and boozy.

12 oz bottle. Pours black with a brown head. Dark chocolate aroma, molasses. Very chocolatey roasted flavor, a bit syrupy molasses, possibly a bit of hoppiness coming through. Has some sweetness to it, but definitely not the dominant flavor. Definitely a great imperial stout.

Bottle at the 1st Annual Christmas at The Garvie’s tasting 2015, big thanks to Magic Rock Stu. Pours clear dark brown with a thin tan head. Aromas of chocolate, tar, coffee. Taste is roasted bitter, some boozy and nutty notes. Bitter chocolate. Oily texture. Roasted bitter finish.

12 ounce bottle into snifter, bottled on 8/27/2015. Pours dense pitch black color with a 1 finger dense dark brown head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice dense soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a light amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, toffee, molasses, toast, dark bread, light licorice, light pine, light smoke/char, and herbal/roasted earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malt and light-moderate earthy hop notes; with good strength. Taste of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, toffee, molasses, toast, dark bread, light licorice, light pine, light smoke/char, and herbal/roasted earthiness. Moderate herbal/pine/roast bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, toffee, molasses, light smoke/char, and herbal/roasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; with a great roasted bitterness/sweetness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light-medium carbonation and very full bodied; with a very smooth, creamy, silky and lightly slick/sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a small warmth lingering after the finish. Overall this is a fantastic imperial stout style. All around awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; and smooth to sip on for the big ABV. A highly enjoyable offering.
