Imperial Stout
Our 30th Anniversary Ale is a testament to three-plus decades of hard-work. It honors all that has helped us get to this point – hard work, quality and authenticity.
It reminds us of where we’ve been, how we’ve grown over the years, the challenges we’ve faced and at the same time, looks forward to what comes next.
Also a nod to another Bell's favorite, Expedition Stout, flavors of dark chocolate and fruit meld to create a full-bodied, roasty stout.
A fair amount of Polaris hops lend a brightness and a nice character that will help carry the beer in its early stages making it incredibly drinkable and interesting. Malt characteristics will continue to develop over time, so that beer drinkers who choose to cellar it can enjoy the beer for years to come.

Just picking up fix ins for dinner and this is on shelf, kudos to Bells for making a kick ass 30th anniv imp stout and then serving in 12 oz bottles that would show up on shelves of my grocery. Anyways deep dark pour small head. Nose isn’t huge but lovely of chocolate and light anise. Tastes of dark chocolate, tar, dark malts, anise, light vanilla. Mouthfeel is fantastic thick but very drinkable hide alcohol very well. Not sweet just dark and lovely.

A solid imperial stout, though not quite as fine as Black Note or Expy. Thick dark chocolate, creamy consistency, big roast and a sharp bite of booze. Pours black with dark mocha head. Bittersweet finish. Some caramel. Bottle from U-Street Wine.

Draft @ Max’s Taphouse, Baltimore. Pours a black color with a small tan head. Has a roasted malty chocolate and licorice aroma. Roasted malty licorice and chocolate flavor. Has a roasted malty chocolate and licorice finish.

Pour is a thick motor oil black with no head at all. Aroma is a syrupy molasses with brown sugar and a bit of tobacco and leather. Flavor is more of a sweet molasses with a thick buttery and chewy malt. Alcohol is here but not in a harsh way, just enough to give a warming in the chest as this goes down. Finish is a sweet roasted malt with more molasses and brown sugar. Did not get much or any of a hop presence. This beer will probably taste way different a year from now but as it sits it’s a bit sweet but super rich and sugary.

Aroma: On first whiff there was a surprisingly fruitiness to it along with some licorice, as it mellows in the glass for a bit, I get much more of a chocolate smell, but still kind of reminiscent of some sort of fruit covered chocolate. Some vanilla, coffee, and some boozy notes sneak through as well.
Appearance: It pours a dark brown-black color with a brown head and some spotty lacing
Flavor: The tastes leans chocolaty for me, licorice / anise as well, fairly sweet, boozy, and light bitter
Palate: This beer has a really excellent, full bodied mouthfeel. it is also extremely smooth, this one drinks like a shake almost. The ABV is well hidden as well, considering it is an 11% brew.
Overall Impression: Really interesting beer. I swear the aroma changed every time I took a whiff. There's a ton going on here that pulls me away from the notes I keep returning to, but I circle back to that chocolate covered fruity notes as being the most dominant. I could have gone a lot of place with the score here. The palate was my favorite component. Really impressed by the overall feel. Nice beer, I'm glad to have tried it.

12 ounce bottle from Beer Run. Inky black, large dark brown head. Good retention. Aroma of roasted malt, leather, chocolate, mild fruity notes. The taste is roasted malt, chocolate, nuts, herbal and piney hops, molasses. Full bodied, mildly boozy, chewy. Nice beer.

On tap at the Porter. Pours black, with a small, bubbly, tan head. The aroma is layers of chocolate malt, black cherries and raisins, cinnamon, and caramel. Very sweet, with a lovely touch of bitterness that balances well. Very heavy body, with a smooth, silky, and smooth mouthfeel. This is a decadent and flavorful stout. Gets noticeably more aromatic and complex as it warms.

12 oz bottle poured into a Bruery tulip. Black with half a finger of tan head that fades fairly quickly into a thin ring. Aromas of dark chocolate, roasted coffee, a bit of dark fruit, just a hint of booze. Tastes of dark chocolate, roasted coffee, caramel, a bit of dark fruit. Full body with a dry finish. Thick, oily mouthfeel. Well masked alcohol.

Bottle. Pours near black with a dark brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has lots of dark grains and roasted malts with a bit of bitter chocolate and a touch of coffee. Flavor is dark grain and roasted malt forward with a hint of smokiness and some dark chocolate notes.
