Damm’s first Märzenbier was created in 1953. In the early years, it was only brewed between October and April and wasn’t made for the rest of the year. In 1955, as it had become a great success, it was decided to brew the Märzenbier all year round. It was given the name Voll-Damm. “Voll” in German means full, complete. The name suited a strong, intense and full-bodied beer. During cooking we add Nugget, Magnum and Taurus variety hops, which are responsible for the characteristic bitterness of Voll-Damm.

The bottle looks good. Slogan "Das originale Märzenbier". Why in German? Looks good in the glass. Aroma a little bit alcoholic. Tastes strong and spicy. Very good. The best spanish beer I tested up to now.

33 cL can. Pours golden orange, clear, with a huge white head. Sweet and slight spiced/pepperish malty nose. Soft malt beginning leading into a mild finish with very little bitterness. Has a clear alcohol flavour in the finish with a slight warmining feel.

An amber coloured ale, thats alittle fizzy, Quite malty and fruity with a rich slightly sweet flavour

Bottled. It pours clear, copper-colored with a minimal beige head. Malty and sweet on the nose, with some hops and hints of dried fruits. Sweet, malty and quite hoppy flavor with both beef-stock and some alcohol. Medium body and a slightly malty and hoppy finish. Some alcohol as well in the finish. A pity I only brought back one bottle from the shop where I found it, because this was probably the best Spanish beer I found on my stay on Tenerife. (070208)

A very sweet and malty beer. I drank it from pounder cans, but I also noticed that it was sold in things that looked like 40s (liters I assume). Taste of alcohol is definately present, but it is complimented by the creaminess and thickness of the beer as opposed to a malt liquor that would only only compliment the taste with watery crappiness. Would drink again.

330ml can. Golden in colour with a medium off-white head. Aroma of malty sweetness. Sharp flavour of dark malts. Medium bodied. Some notes of alcohol in the finish. Went very well with pork meat (Thanks to Eva for bringing it as a gift from Barcelona).

Canned. Deep golden colour, big white head. Alcohol, bread, malts and some bitterish hops in aroma. Flavour is sweet malts and hops with hints of raisins and barley. Not much alcohol the flavour, but enough to balance the beer up. Very mouthdrying.

Golden color, creamy white head. Burnt roasted sugar in the aroma - typical bock/doppelbock-nose. Malty, slightly woody hoppy. Suprisingly "watery feeling" and does not show much alcohol. Toasted notes. Simple but drinkable bock from "not so great brewery".

Bottle in Spanish Tapas bar, on Oxford jail site 01-04-06 Had to drink out of bottle in a dimly lit environment so don’t know what colour it was. Very decent lager plenty of malt, despite it’s strength it was quite an easy drinking and flavoursome beer.

Rich, sweet malty brew. Slightly cloying, a bit one-dimensional. The richness was overwhelming. Better than Spanish mainstream lagers, but nothing compared to German Bocks. I also agree with other posters, this hardly seems like a Marzen.
