Far from being jade coloured, this beer celebrates the beauty of the German Carafa barley malt that gives it a warm bronze colour without making it heavy or sweet. The clear palate is ideal to enjoy the full spiciness from the versatile New Zealand, Pacific Jade hops.

On cask at the Cask, Pimlico - 03/08/12. Pours to a ruby/reddish brown colour with a small white head. Sweet fruit and floral hops on the nose. Hops, orange peel/marmalade in the taste and a slightly malty backbone - good stuff! A little spice and biterness in the aftertaste. Will definately re-visit this one!

The taste is leather, wood, leaf, caramel, dark fruit, raisin, currant, hop bite, resin and floral notes, with a dry, bitter finish. Medium body and soft carbonation. Flavoursome and well balanced.

On tap at Craft Beer. Clear deep amber beer, little pale tan head. Semi dry palate. Nice piney hops. Mild malt balances. Semi dry finish. Not bad - just could so with some grunt.

(Cask at Southampton Arms, Kentish Town, London, 19 July 2011) Reddish amber colour with brief, beige head. Malty, fruity nose with notes of red berries, citrus peel and spicy hops. Malty, fruity, slightly toasty taste with orange peel, marmalade, dried apricots and a generous spicy bitterness in the finish. Medium body, slightly sweetish. Nice one.

Cask @ 3 Judges. Amber colour, off-white head. Nose is slight toasted malts, dark fruits, pine, resin. Absolutely stunning. Flavour is slight toasted malts, bit of candy sugar, resin, fairly dry biscuit, some stickyness. This is great stuff.

Cask, handpump at The Shoulder of Mutton, Wantage, Oxon 29.07.11 Pours amber with a reddish glint showing, there is a small bubbly off-white head. Quite hoppy throughout, though I didn’t find it typically NZ hoppy beer. Good fruity flurry and nicely tangy, bitter and snappy with some sharp mandarin showing. Like this. A7 A4 T7 P4 Ov15 3.7
