Bottle split at the CBJ tasting, thanks to Fergus, 04/03/2026.
Black topped with a thin tan head.
Nose is chocolate, molasses, dark malts, umami.
Taste comprises toffee, chocolate, marshmallow, light spice.
Full bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a kiss of booze.
A little stuck in 3rd gear for an impy and lacking depth.

100ml draught at The Mall Tavern. Deep black body, shiny naked surface, poor lacing. Attractive on the nose with dark chocolate malts to the fore, nicely roasted. Well mixed taste profile of prunes, vanilla chocolate, and a drop of nuts. Smoothly, long lived roasted finish. Well bodied. Good drinking. (Kensington, London 01.03.2026).

Bottle. Nose is chocolate, marshmallow, a little bubblegum. Taste is very sweet, marsmallow, chocolate, milk chocolate, wafer, vanilla, leading to roast malt finish which stops it being cloying.

I've had a couple of similar beers this year which have been among the worst stouts I've ever drunk, so my expectations were low. However this is really quite nice. It's sweet without being cloying, and has some complexity of taste rather than just a load of artificial flavouring.
