An amazing insight into how Devon cider would have tasted in bygone centuries. Straw pressed on a traditional single screw press and fermented to dryness, resulting in crisp cider with a great structure and pure apple and citrus flavours.

22/5/2019. From Bag in a Box at The Dove Street Inn Spring Festival, Ipswich. Pours cloudy pale yellow gold with minimal white bubbles. Aroma of semi tart apples, farmyard, light sulphur and tannins. Light to moderate sweetness, and light tartness. Moderate body, slight oily texture, soft to flat carbonation. Dry slightly tart finish with a bit of washing up water. Not one of the better ones at the festival.

Bottle at home very different cider. Darker gold pour more beer looking due to aging. Nose is oaky and applesauce. Tastes of vanilla, oak, some barley and straw, red apples. Light alcohol presence not overly carbonated. Rather tannic.

Draft at Churchkey. Clear yellow color, still - see pic. Aroma has apple, pear, very light vanilla. Taste has fruit and light tannins, fairly dry finish, but not overly dry. A bit more complexity than most ciders.
