355ml bottle. Head is big, tanned, good retention. Colour is dark, opaque. Aroma is roasted malts, coffee, cocoa, chocolate, cognac, dark dried fruits. Taste is full malty base, complex roasted tones, dark dried fruits, bit ash, light oily mouthfeel, nice balanced long lasting bitterness, soft carbonation, very good fully enjoyed.

(Re-rating. Previous: 8.0 - jun 2016) Review based on the BJCP2025 guidelines (style 20C). Bottle 35.5 cl - Batch: 4149012725 (?) (BB: undeclared). AROMA: moderately strong roasted malt aroma with coffee and dark chocolate notes. medium-low herbaceous or pine-like hop presence as well as a medium-low vinous aroma. APPEARANCE: black color and opaque with slight ruby highlights against light. medium light-brown head with good retention. TASTE: medium roasted flavor with notes similar to the aroma: unsweetened coffee and dark chocolate. medium rustic hop note complements the flavor. medium-high to high bitterness from hops and roasted grains with a semi-dry to dry, roasted and bitter finish. PALATE: medium-high body with a somewhat velvety texture. moderate carbonation. OVERALL: a nice imperial stout with more roasted malt presence.

Bottle. Malty aroma and taste, roastyness, chocolate, coffee and coke notes, medium to high bitter. Full body, malty roasty bitter finish. Good

Bottle shared at home. Pours jet black with beige head. Nose is chocolate, cocoa powder earthy notes, all of these quite faint tbh. Its taste is somewhat bitter, showing chocolate, cocoa powder, grains and earthy notes. Light to medium bodied with soft to average carbo, certainly drinks below the ABV. It’s not a bad beer by any means, but it didn’t even come close to my expectations, sadly.

330ml bottle from dsnowden, thank you!
pour opaque black, small tan head, good lacing. Aroma is ALL roasty malt, with some hints of chocolate and coffee. This beer is super smooth. Flavour is big roasted malt, some hops add a great bitterness. Wow, wicked stout!

Bottle at home. Aroma of roasted malts, coffee, espresso, liquorice, fruits, plum, chocolate, hops. Flavour is moderate sweet with a medium bitter finish. Body is medium to full. Quite a fruity hoppy profile for an Imperial Stout. If this were a bit fuller this would be an absolute beast. As it stands, it has very high drinkability and smoothness. Damn tasty.

Reviewing vintages of big beers? Sure, why not. Got this at Mariano's at $7/4 pack. Rich black pour with a persistent tan head. Rich malt and alcohol nose, but it kind of subsides in the glass. Under the cap it almost smells like it's been in a bourbon barrel, but no. Rich alcoholic taste with smooth malt, very little roastiness. The beer leaves no dregs behind in the bottle.

2006 Great aroma of coffee underlaid by cocoa. Under halogen lighting the color is virutally black, but there are some reddish highlights at the edge of the glass. The head is monstrously foamy tan. It starts with coffee, quickly followed by toasty malts. It is almost like the original Guiness, but toastier. There is some hop in the finish, but it blends with the roasted malt. Quite a strong stout.
