WILD FRUITED SAISON

A bright & highly effervescent oak-aged golden saison. Brewed with citrus peel, pink Himalayan salt, coriander, & clementine juice. Citrus & bready wheat in the aroma, tart & refreshing, with notes of citrus in the finish.

If you cut us, do we not bleed clementines...?

Pour looks like lemonade with a foamy quite white head. Nose is somewhat medicinal with a metallic tart olfactory. First taste is very tart up front then some bitter plastic saison thing starts to happen. Covers the alky content well. Some peppery aspects in the middle. Interesting off citrus notes. Sourness really makes it engrossing. Yes near the end of the session I find it gripping, compelling and compulsive. The finish comes too soon and this brew becomes captivating, engaging, enthralling & entrancing. Lots of milkshake crappy yeast dregs on the bottom of the can. This stuff evolved from mediocre tart to something darn good!

2024 can from Livonia Liquor. Pours a hazy, glowing straw gold with a finger of foam that dissipates. Funky nose with notes of brett, horseblanket, wet hay, pith and citrus zest. Bright on the palate with more citrus, brett and hay flavors. Dry with a note of mimosa. Nice pith and tartness on the finish. Really nice.

Bottle shared by Willrunforbeer. Flavor shows me mild citrus, light oak, light acidic hints. No vinegar which is a massive plus here! More tart rather than sour. Held on wonderful for a 2015 bottle.

750 ml bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 12/23/2016. Pours slightly hazy pale golden/yellow color with a 1 finger dense white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Nice spotty lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big tart lemon, lime, tangerine, grapefruit, citrus peel, pineapple, peach, apricot, melon, pear, green apple, coriander, hay, straw, herbal, grass, sea salt, oak, pepper, wheat, and cracker; with lighter notes of leathery/musty funk, white wine vinegar, and yeast/oak earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of fruity/funky/spicy yeast, oranges, citrus peels, spices, oak barrel, and light-moderate pale malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big tart lemon, lime, tangerine, grapefruit, citrus peel, pineapple, peach, apricot, melon, pear, green apple, coriander, hay, straw, herbal, grass, sea salt, oak, pepper, wheat, and cracker; with lighter notes of leathery/musty funk, white wine vinegar, and yeast/oak earthiness. Light-moderate fruity/lactic tartness and yeast spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of tart lemon, lime, tangerine, grapefruit, citrus peel, pineapple, peach, apricot, melon, pear, green apple, coriander, hay, straw, herbal, grass, sea salt, oak, pepper, wheat, cracker, light funk/vinegar, and yeast/oak earthiness on the finish for a while. Awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/funky/spicy yeast, oranges, citrus peels, spices, oak barrel, and light-moderate pale malt flavors; with an awesome malt/tart/spiciness balance, and no puckering/astringent flavors after the finish. Moderate dryness from tart/spiciness, increasing through the glass. Medium carbonation and light-medium bodied; with a very smooth, moderately crisp/grainy/acidic, and lightly sticky/tangy/tannic/saline balanced mouthfeel that is awesome. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5.8%. Overall this is an awesome fruited saison style! All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/funky/spicy yeast, oranges, citrus peels, spices, oak barrel, and light-moderate pale malt flavors; very smooth, crisp, and refreshing to drink, with the balanced tart/spicy finish. Spot on balance between fruit, spices, and classic JP house funk profile; with just enough malt presence to balance the acidity. A highly enjoyable offering.

Bottle I grabbed at JP in Detroit, pours a clear, bright gold with some foamy, white head. Nose is very nice, some clear citrus, a bright vinegary acid, some light wood, a hint of perfumey sweetness lurks, but also some funk too. Flavor is tart with both citric acid and a vinegar character, straw, a barnyard character, all throughout there’s a clear orange character resonating, some light herbs. Finishes dry, tart, crisp. Exceptional.

Sampled from the tap at GTMW 2015. Pours a cloudy light gold with a white head that dissipates to hte edges. Aroma has a decent amount of sweet citrus with a touch of tartness, a bit of earthy grain and a light funk. Flavor has a slightly sour citrus with some light grain, a bit of oak and some coriander underlying.
