Hand bottle thanks to bu11zeye. Labeled as 12.8%. Pours with a small tan head over a hazy brown body. Aroma of maple, barrel, alcohol and fig. Taste is alcohol, maple, molasses, smoke and dates. Syrupy mouthfeel and light bubbles. Does not seem like an imperial stout and all to me, more like an old ale.

Bottle, thx to papsoe. An oily pour, clear and really dark brown in the glass, topped by a beige to tan head. Licorice, Tyrkisk Pæber shot, dark chocolate and alcohol on the nose. Licorice, alcohol and chocolate in the flavor too, quite sweet, with coffee and hops too. It feels relatively thin in the mouth, and sure warming. The finish has chocolate, coffee and hoppy bitterness that lasts a long time. An extreme one, best suited to be drank sitting in a comfortable chair by the fire. One-hour beer. (080829)

Tap at Oelbaren, Copenhagen. Pours pitch black with a creamy white head & lacings. Aroma is strong of bitter roasted coffee, liquorice & alcohol. Smooth & filling palate. Low carbonation. Warm & quite harsh alcohol note. Sticky & very tasty though the alcohol dominates a little too much. Bitter lasting end! Nice one!

In happy company with Finn A. and Skinnyviking I finished off a drinking session at Ølbaren in Copenhagen with 250ml of this heavy stuff. Served from tap in a tulip glass at ambient drinking temperature. A brown patch on the surface resting on top of a devil-black body, maybe with a russet tint. Tang aroma of burnt, dark malts. Vinous taste of dark fruits, bitter coffee beans and some liquorice beneath. Firm bitter ending and plenty of body. A solid night cup! (28.05.2008).

My 400 danish rating. Draught @ Ølbaren, Copenhagen. Pours a black color with a small off-white head. Roasted malty chocolate and coffee aroma with some hints of licorice. Also some alcoholic hints on the aroma. Sweetish roasted malty chocolate and coffee flavor. Has a long warming roasted malty finish with some hints of chocolate and licorice in the aftertaste.

(Handbottle 50 cl) Very dark - close to black - with a tint of red and a small, rough, beige head. Aroma of burned malts, chocolate and licorice. The body is surprisingly almost watery (!). Rather low in carbonation. Plenty of hard roasted malt, and a little fruit. Quite sweet before the malty bitter finish that also contains some roaring alcohol. 290308

Draught @ Ølbaren, Copenhagen. Unclear dark black color with a average, forthy, good lacing, mostly diminishing, beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, chocolate, coffee, rasin, plum, licorice. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration. Body is medium to full, texture is oily, carbonation is flat, finsh feel is light alcoholic. Very nice ;o)) (110308)
