Sour brown with Balaton cherries.
Aged almost 3 years in wine barrels, followed by several months in our foudres (large format oak tanks). The beer smells like a barrel room in a brewery. Lots of oak and aged beer flavors, with chocolate roasted malt flavors still present. Layers of red wine and dark cherry flavors, similar to black cherry on the finish. Cherry flavors are both sweet, sour, and tannic, adding some palate weight to the beer. Hints of acetic acid from the extended barrel aging round out the flavor.

Draft at Bitter Creek. Medium brown, flat pour. Definitely sour aromas, some of the darker malts in the background. Mild astringency, sourness, but still kind of sweet.

Draft at Stone - Richmond, 4/16/16. Reddish-brown pour, kinda muddy looking. Oak, sour cherry, and caramel malt come through on the aroma and in the flavor. Decent mouthfeel. Thought this worked pretty well overall.

Tap at Lord Hobo. It pours cloudy dark brown with a medium off-white head. The nose is quite woody, vanilla, creamy, chocolate, bounty bar, cherry skin, charred wood and bakewell tart. The taste is bitter, pretty woody, vanilla, earth, sour cherry, candy, over-ripe, funk, charred wood, slightly burnt and damp leaves with a dry, woody finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Again too woody, but not bad.
