Taster at the brewery. Pours a clear, reddish-brown color, with a small, beige head. Light anise, black currants, black pepper, and figs. Sweet, with lots of dark fruits, and a very light bitterness. Medium body, with a syrupy and warming palate. Mellow, with excellent Belgian yeast character. Nice.

Draft at the source. Clear reddish amber color. Aroma of toffee, dates. Taste has rich butterscotch, figs, toffee, booze. Tasty. A big beer.

On tap @ 12 Degree. Pours a hazy reddish orange appearance with a cream colored head. Toasted malt, burnt sugar, caramel, blood orange, light smoke in the nose. Fairly dry. Moderately high carbonation. Charred, caramelized sugar, deep citrus, plum flavor. Some light acidity. A bit of smoke. Not my style but actually kind of fun.

Clear amber – an interesting combination of dark, sweet fruits (fig, raisin), moderate spice (cinnamon, pepper) and a mild, earthy, almost funky quality – nice balance between a sweet, estery approach, and a dry, peppery, phenolic finish – clean, non-sticky malt backbone holds all of these great qualities together – finish is just a little hot, but otherwise a very nice brew.
