Bottle from Yamamoto. Funky nose of lactic acid, rice, woody spices, light citrus. Oily with a yellow tint. Woody rice flavor, lots of umami and some lemon. Rich, funky, very old fashioned tasting. A bit stiff compared to their wonderful Yamahai versions.

750mL bottle, pours a clear white with a few bubbles. Aroma is quite milky, with lots of steamed rice with some residual sugar, and a little pear. Flavour is shy on any funk, with prominent alcohol and subdued rice notes with low residual sweetness. Finishes almost bitter, with loads of alcohol. Not being a usual sake rater, it’s difficult to compare, but this seems quite boozy and lacking in depth.
