Definitely less sweet than a Belgian beer (lacking the esters a bit), but bold barrel notes and malt make this a nice clean sipper.

Can from Tavour. Pours dark brn/blk with a creamy tan head. Very complex aroma. Kandi. Bourbon/vanilla. Creamy burnt malt - if that makes any sense. Sort of Kraft chocolate caramel. Wow. Full bodied. Many of the things in the aroma, with some slightly musty oak. It is not dry. Misses sticky. Heat finally shines when the other flavors melt away. This is very tasty ale. Superb.

Aromas are not that pleasing and a really odd mix of wine black dirt, leather, roast and dark malt. As time is going on I have begun to lose my appreciation for Belgian Stouts the combination of the Stout qualities with the Belgian yeast and flavors associated just don't seem that good to me.

Draft: Nearly black with a creamy tan head. Dark fruit, chocolate aroma. Taste is bitter coffee, chocolate malt, plum, raisin.....ashy and alcohol bittering... Really good.

Draft. Astringent talc, coffee, and chocolate malt aroma. Black with moderate tan head. Sweet astringent alcohol, milk chocolate malt and moderately bitter herbal flavor. Decent body. A tad rough but not bad.

Draft at the source. Clear brown color. Aroma of vanilla, plums, bourbon. Taste is smooth, fruity, boozy, roasty. Tastier than the BA version (tasted side-by-side).
