16 oz. can. Opaque black, with a very slight, ruby touch. Medium, tan head. The aroma is bittersweet chocolate, cinnamon, espresso, and toffee. Sweet and very malty, with no hint of sour or bitter flavors. Heavy body, chalky, velvety, and smooth. This is a nice, chocolate malt of a porter.

Tap at Sidedoor. Deep brown-black body. Big fluffy beige head. Heavy on the specialty malts. Thick and heavy for the style. Bittersweet chocolate, caramel. Has a nice aroma, defined flavor, but the overall mouthfeel doesn’t really work for me...too dry, astringent, mineral. OK.

Can/Fest. A- Roasty, coffee, watery, malty. A- Dark brown color, dark liquid, tan head. T- Roasty, watery, coffee, cocoa, dry, slightly bitter. P- Medium body, thin texture, average carbonation, roasty dry finish. O- Pretty thin and bland. Dare I say it? This would benefit a lot if it was barrel aged. Just needs more.

Can at Souris River. Drank from the can, so I didn’t see the appearance, and the aroma was limited, but fairly roasty. Taste has fruity plums, prunes, coffee. Nice.

Big fucken can @ home, thanks to GrandaddyKC for sending! Pours a deep black appearance with a foamy dark brown head. Burnt and roasty nose with some earth, vanilla, and light caramel. Medium body. Low sweetness. Moderately hoppy. Plenty of bitter chocolate and coffee. Fine.

16 oz. can thanks to GrandaddyKC. Dark black color, thin lasting head in the snifter. The aroma is dark chocolate, burnt espresso beans, and a mild citrus note underneath all the chocolate.
The flavor shows a large amount of roasted coffee and chocolate flavors upfront. Thicker body for a porter with a chewy molasses and caramel candy texture. The hop bitterness is just enough to cut the sweetness a bit. Carbonation gives a smooth creamy feel over the tongue. Nice level of flavor.

Purchased at Bottles and Cans in Chicago, IL; enjoyed at home while watching Bears week 6 football on a nice Sunday afternoon. Appearance is a creamy dark dark brown, a bit of light coming at the bottom of the glass, nice moderate dark tan head. Aroma is mostly chocolate malt with a large emphasis of the malt, as well as a bit of roast. Taste is very nice, roasted chocolate malt is the key ingredient, light bitterness, a tad dry as well. Well done.

Pint can: Has all the qualities of a solid porter; good roast, light bitters, espresso, and cocoa. Refreshing. Dark brown in color with two fingers of creamy tan head. Really hits the mark for what I expect from the style. Lovely. Pounder can with cool graphics and a no-slip grip = cool bonus.
