No bristlecones were harmed in the production of this award winning beer. Deep chocolate brown and an amber head, Bristlecone Brown Ale is a seasonal beer and available for a short time. We chose the name as a tribute to the regal Great Basin Bristlecone pine. Among these stately survivors is the 4,765 year-old Methuselah, the oldest living inhabitant of North America. Its exact location is kept secret as an older relative nicknamed “Prometheus” was unfortunately cut down in 1964.
This particular long-living species is typically found in the higher elevations of Nevada, California and Utah’s Wasatch Range. Due to cold temperatures, high winds, and dry soils, these pines grow very slowly.

12 ounce bottle from Bottle Revolution in Raleigh. Pours a clear brown color with a thin head that quickly fades. Aroma of chocolate, nuts, mild hop finish. The taste is chocolate malts, herbal hops and nutty notes. Medium bodied, nicely balanced and quite drinkable. Slight lingering bitterness.

12oz bottle pours a nice clear brown with copper hues and tall tan head. The aroma offers up roasted malts, toasted artisan wheat bread, biscuit malts and whole grain cracker. The taste is pretty rich with roasted malts, nuttiness, wheat crackers and then drying slightly due to dark roasted malt astringency. Nice Brown ale.

Bottle @ home. Clear, reddish brown appearance with a tan head that has low retention. Hazelnutty, toffee, toasty, brown malty, mildly organic, earthy hoppy aroma. Slightly bitter, earthy hoppy, nutty, maple, toffee, caramel malty flavor with a slightly earthy, nutty aftertaste.

12oz bottle. Pours a nice brown/copper color with a tan head, some lace in the glass. Aroma is nutty/fruity with some dark malt. Taste is roasted malt. The finish is dry, with a sour aftertaste. Overall, it is a decent Brown Ale.
