Brooklyn Dry Stout is a bold, reddish-black Irish-style stout, rich in color but low in alcohol and very drinkable. The dark colors results from brewing with roasted malts, lending Brooklyn Dry Stout a chocolate/coffee-like flavor with a bit of an espresso bite. The finish is dry and crisp and invites another pint.

On tap at Tap East. Clear dark red brown beer, Decent pale tan head. Smooth palate with fine stinging carbonation. Mild lacto chocolate malt. Nice sharp generic candy fruits with strawberry most noticeable. Subtle esters and chocolate underneath. Finishes very minerally and sharp with some citric hop coming through. Minerally aftertaste. Strewth! Wasn’t expecting this level of complexity from a modest little 4.2% Irish Stout!

At Tap East. On tap. Its fruity like christmas cake fruit. Yes dry. Yes drinkable with this lovely raisin plum flavour with hint of choc. Tasty. Served too fizzy

On tap with a nice black pour. Good friendly aroma makes my mouth water. Taste is also mild and enjoyable, easy and fun. Clean and fresh enjoyable beer experience, fine and finness all in one. Pleasantly surprized and satisfied. Wish finish never came. Goodly amount of co2 makes this fine sizzly fun.

Just not my style of beer. +++ Sampled on draft at D’s in Monroeville this beer poured a black color with a medium sized creamy tan head that left decent lacing. The aroma was dry, roasty and woody with a bit of smoke. The flavor was dry, bitter, roasty, woody and a touch sooty. The finish was long and bitter with dry roasty malts and soot lingering. Medium body though a touch thin for style. Eh.

Draft @ Fat belly’s Portsmouth, NH. Pint glass showing deep brown color, respectable head and mild lace. Roasted malt and slight chocolate nose. I think the draft line wasn’t clean. It seems a nice stout hiding in my glass however, had a slight, funky sourness that should not be in a dry stout. I don’t blame the brewery for this error, clearly the establishment is at fault here. Clean your damn lines!!! Slackers!

On tap. Pours a clear dark brown with a creamy brown head that lasts throughout the beer and laces slightly. Aroma has creamy roast malt notes with a bit of chocolate and dryness. Flavor starts with roasted malts and transitions to slightly bitter chocolate with a dry finish.

Tap at DGBD for St Patricks day brunch. Pours jet black with thin head. Tastes of bitter dark chocolate, malt, and coca cola. It’s extremely drying on finish.

Regional Food and Drink, DC draft ($6): Pours black with a slightly creamy off-white head. Aroma is roasted malts and chocolate. Taste is underwhelming. Flavour is there, but not in enough force. Kind of tastes like a Guinness in that it feels very light and watery. Not my favourite stout by a long run.

(Cask at Oliver Twist, Stockholm 28 Apr) Dark brown, almost black colour, with ruby hints. Bubbly head. Nose is roasted, velvet, with chocolate. Taste is dominated by chocolate with a bitter-sweet finish. Lots of taste, smooth as velvet, but a bit thin body. Nice taste though.

On draught at Winking Lizard in Columbus. Pours flat black with a medium and foamy beige head that disappears pretty fast. Thin sheets of lacing. Aroma of malt, coffee and some chocolate. Fairly rich mouthfeel and nicely creamy, with coffee, bittersweet chocolate and hops flavor. A bit of roasted malt in the background as well. The finish is smooth and creamy and has a lingering coffee bitterness. Examples like this or GLBC Wolfhound remind me that this style doesn’t have to be boring. Well done.
