Doubt is always lurking around the corner. We get that at Duivelsbier. Our beer embodies absolute exuberance, perfectly pairing with those moments when you do choose to take the plunge. Upstream, perhaps even against one’s better judgment? Who’s to say? But on occasion, you are granted a free pass. Some might think that’s kind of diabolical, yet above all, it’s what makes us human.

Bottle at Speciaalbier Café De Markies, Leeuwarden. Aroma is lots of caramel, toffee, sweet dark malt, candy sugar, touch of dried dark fruits. Flavour is very sugary sweet with only a lightly bitterness. Body is medium. Very sweet malty caramel-bomb, not to my liking I’m afraid.

Bottle. Brown with a large beige head that lightens. Shyish aroma is doughy with dried fruit and some spices. Sweet with brown sugar, dough, vague fruit. Gets a little vinous before gentle bitterness. Liquorice aftertaste. Fair enough.

Bottiglia.

Bottle from Drinks Vanuxeem, Ploegsteert, Belgium. Pours a murky mahogany colour with a medium sized thick creamy beige head. Aromas of dry dark fruits, caramel, and brown bread. Taste is fruity with more dry dark fruits and caramel, more brown bread and some brown sugar. A bit sweet but not overly so. Fullish body with average carbonation. Good decent beer.
