On tap at the brewery. Sample glass.
The appearance was a dark brown color with no head nor lacing, but a bar pour was what yielded this, so I’m not too concerned, nice fill by the bartender.
The smell starts off with a rich malty dark chocolate opening up into bready/yeasty spices, seems a bit restrained.
The taste was moderately sweet with the underscore of spice to hit in the back of the throat.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body. Fairly sessionable, the carbonation seemed to hit right with that back of the throat sort of bold feel. It seems to lay down on my tongue decently.
Overall, as a Belgian Strong ale, it sits on the dark side of the wheelhouse, not bad, but nothing I need to seek out.
