On tap at The Reservoir, Waterbury, VT.
This was poured into a tulip.
The appearance was a dark brown close to black color with a one finger white to off white foamy head that dissipated at a nice pace leaving a subtle thin lacing sticking and somewhat sliding into the beer.
The smell started off with some sweet roasted vanilla bean over top of subtle roasty coffee and some cocoa.
The taste takes in the previously mentioned flavors to blend nicely and allow a subtle black licorice in for the balance. Slightly sticky sweet in the aftertaste and finish but good for the most part.
On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. The carbonation seemed appropriately styled allowing the stickiness to blend with a subtle drying aspect.
Overall, I say this was a pretty good American Stout that I could have again.
