On tap at Hop n’ Moose brewpub.
This was poured into a tulip.
The appearance was a dark brown close to black color with a thin wisp of a white to off white foamy head that dissipated immediately.
The smell started off with the sweet boozy smell of Jack Daniels with a nice woodiness running into the stout-like qualities of Swamp Donkey.
The taste was boozy sweet. Woodiness lays down a bit, isn’t as drying as I sometimes find with some of these types of beers. Nice semi-sweet woody stout-like aftertaste. Sly wet boozy finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a semi-sessionable to good sipping quality about it. Carbonation seems barely there, but hey, I’m not worried.
Overall, really nice stout, though I didn’t see the \"oatmeal\" qualities to it. Still, I’d have this one again.
