Poured into a pint glass, the appearance was a black color. Thin semi-finger’s worth of foamy white head is basically just a cap sitting atop of a beer. Mild stringy lace after dissipation.
The aroma starts with a gentle roasty coffee bean, subtle dried cocoa bean. Mild dark fruits.
The flavor follows the aromas with the dark fruits sliding further back in the flavor. Leans roastier in the aftertaste and finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a decent sessionability about it. Low carbonation. Dark fruits seemed to have smoothed it out a bit more than I expected.
Overall, nicely done Irish dry stout with an unexpectant dark fruitiness that balances that roast to make a bit smoother than expected. I’d have again.
