5.8/10 Appearance 6 Aroma 6 Flavor 6 Texture 6 Overall 5
Poured into a pint glass, the appearance had a rustic looking mild amber to orange color. Hues of light brown gloss over the background. No head, no lacing.
The aroma has some qualities of a brown ale - sly nuttiness, some toffee and caramel malts. Amber ale qualities are basically the same with barely any hops, maybe a little bit of something (tea to earthy hops).
The flavor leans towards the malts but super low and then a light breadiness. Sly crisp bready aftertaste and finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a sly sessionable sort of feel to it. Low carbonation.
Overall, not bad for what it is, but it’s not a Scottish ale, definitely a weird sort of hybrid that seems to lose some identity in the rest of it’s attributes.
