Reviewed from notes.
The appearance was a burnt semi-dark copper color with a finger’s worth of white foamy head that held for a little bit and fell off at a decent pace. Some lace.
The aroma had some strong sweet and spicy rye up front, then a soft malt base. Some floral bitter hops try to make a light presence.
The flavor had some of the sweetness of the rye fairly far up front along with the malts. Floral hops are once again far underneath. Aftertaste is all about the rye and malts. Quick sly sweet rye sort of finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a pretty good sessionability about it. Decent carbonation. ABV felt appropriate.
Overall, I’ll leave this as an IPA here in hopes that someone else will say something, almost want to say this is more of a rye beer.
