Reviewed from notes.
The appearance was a fairly dark amber color with a finger’s worth of white foamy head that dissipated at a decent pace. Sliding lace.
The aroma had the rye sweetness up front. Some of the spiciness seems a bit further back and then some sweet citrusy hops come in even further back. Also, some light \"spruciness\" came out.
The flavor definitely leaned towards the sweet side of the rye with the citrusy hops coming just a bit more forward than in the aroma. Spruciness is also there. Spiciness seems at the same level as in the aroma here in the flavor. Light rye sweet to citrusy aftertaste. Rolls into the finish as well.
On the palate, this one sat between a light and medium on the body with a fair sessionability about it. Good ABV, felt fine.
Overall, I liked it for me, but don’t expect the spiciness normally associated with rye beers to come out as often warranted.
